After checking out, Karol noticed that the order was a little more expensive than usual, but she dismissed it, thinking she might have ordered some really nice lamb for dinner that week.
It wasn’t until the next day, when the apartment buzzer rang informing her that the delivery had arrived, that she realized what had gone wrong.
“Usually, my order would be around two bags of groceries. I opened the door and there were about fifteen bags in the hallway,” Karol tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I freaked out, yelled for Spencer, and ran back into the apartment.”
“At first, I thought maybe I had ordered my usual order multiple times,” she adds. “But then Spencer looked through the bags. He turned around and said, ‘Alle, what did you do? This is only bananas.’ ”

In the moment, the expecting mother says Blatt thought the situation was hilarious. But she, on the other hand, was in tears. She explains that out of all the bags of bananas, there was only one containing her actual grocery order — so she had accidentally reordered a very small order, in addition to the fruit.
“I felt terrible that I had wasted all these bananas,” she says. “I didn’t think I would be allowed to return them or donate them because of food contamination rules. I felt sad that I had taken them from the monkeys and now they would be wasted.”
During the mishap, Blatt pulled out his phone and began filming because he wanted to show their family what had happened. He sent the video to Karol’s sister, who posted it onTikTok. Since then, the video has gone viral with more than 145,000 views.
“Nobody blamed the pregnant person, which was nice,” she adds.

Eventually, Karol headed out to meet a friend, leaving Blatt to deal with the bananas. He contacted FreshDirect’s customer service team, who, according to Karol, were “so nice.” They picked up the bananas that night.
“Spencer kept one bunch, and then we actually ran out later that week, so I think we should have kept two,” Karol says with a laugh.
