The series' signature characters Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster and Phil and Lil DeVille will appear as animated character in the upcoming film, which otherwise will be filmed in live-action, according toVariety, which likened the film toSonic the Hedgehogin how it will incorporate its characters into the world.

Saturday Night LivecomedianMikey Daycowrote the movie’s script withStreeter Seidell, a screenwriter and comedian who has worked atSNLsince 2014.

Rugratsco-creators Arlene Klasky and Gábor Csupó are producing the new movie along with Karen Rosenfelt.
