Rugratsis returning to the big screen.

The series' signature characters Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster and Phil and Lil DeVille will appear as animated character in the upcoming film, which otherwise will be filmed in live-action, according toVariety, which likened the film toSonic the Hedgehogin how it will incorporate its characters into the world.

Saturday Night LivecomedianMikey Daycowrote the movie’s script withStreeter Seidell, a screenwriter and comedian who has worked atSNLsince 2014.

Rugratsco-creators Arlene Klasky and Gábor Csupó are producing the new movie along with Karen Rosenfelt.

Rugratsran for nine seasons on Nickelodeon; the animated series debuted 1991 and aired its series finale in 2002.

The series also received an animated reboot on Paramount+ in 2021. Paramount Pictures initially announced it intended to make a feature-lengthRugratsmovie at the same time it announced the rebooted animated series in 2018,Deadlinereported at the time.

Director Moore, 53, is best known for his work on 2012’s originalPitch Perfect. He also directed Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s 2015 comedySistersand most recently collaborated with Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel on the 2022 movieShotgun Wedding.
