Sabrina Carpenter Doesn't Want to Discuss Her Relationships: 'I Get Why People Are Interested'

Sabrina Carpenterdoesn’t like to kiss and tell.

In aW Magazinecover story published Thursday, Sept. 5, the pop star, 25, opened up about why she doesn’t want to discuss her relationships outside of her music.

“I get why people are interested,” Carpenter said. “But they can listen to my album and decide for themselves what the songs are about.”

In August, PEOPLE confirmed that Carpenter has had an"on and off” relationshipwithBarry Keoghan, who starred as the love interest in Carpenter’s“Please Please Please” music video, which premiered in June.

The pairfirst sparked romance rumorsfollowing a Los Angeles dinner date in December 2023 after they reportedly crossed paths during Paris Fashion Week two months prior.

They made their first public appearance at a Grammy Awards afterparty in February. While they posed separately on the red carpet, they were seen loved up inside the event and party hostW Magazinelatershared a photo of themtogether.

A few days Carpenter and Keoghan, 31, confirmed the relationship when they were seen sharing a kiss after leaving Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.

At the time, PEOPLE reached out to reps for Carpenter and Keoghan for comment.

In a June interview withRolling Stone, Carpenter alluded to her and Keoghanhaving an undefined relationshipwhen she asked the interviewer how she should “skirt around” whether theSaltburnstar was her boyfriend.

“The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do,” the “Feather” hitmaker said. “Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about. That’s something that comes with the territory.”
