Sadie Sink 'Leaned on' Musician Friends for Rock OperaO'Dessa: 'They Helped Me Out of My Shell' (Exclusive)

While attendingVariety’s Power of Young Hollywood Celebration event at The Santa Monica Proper Hotel on Thursday, Aug. 8, the actress, 22, opens up to PEOPLE exclusively about starring in the upcoming rock operaO’Dessa.

Detailing how she “was trained in musical theater” at the start of her career, Sink says, “That’s kind of how I got into all of this, but I haven’t really touched on that since I was younger.”

“So getting back into it, I definitely leaned on a lot of my closest friends who are in the music industry, and they helped me come out of my shell in that space a little bit more,” she continues.

Adds theStranger Thingsstar: “I’m excited for everyone to see it because it’s a combination of basically everything that I’ve done in my career so far, and it’ll be exciting to share it.”

O’Dessa, according toIMDB, follows “a farm girl in search to recover a cherished family heirloom” who “travels to a strange and dangerous city where she meets her one true love.” There, “to save his soul, she must put the power of destiny to the ultimate test.”

Sink has been busy recently, currently filming the fifth and final season ofStranger Thingsand gearing up for the release ofA Sacrifice.

She recently starred in 2023’sThe Whale, for which she earned a nomination for the Critics' Choice’s movie award for best young performer.

O’Dessais scheduled to be released sometime in 2024.
