Scotty McCreery Stops Concert After Seeing Man Allegedly Hit Woman in the Audience: 'Is She OK?'

Scotty McCreerypaused his concert to help one concertgoer.

The formerAmerican Idolwinnerstopped singing when he saw a man allegedly assault a woman in the audience at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, Colo., on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Concertgoer Jessica Rosarioposted a videothat showed McCreery, 30, pausing the show at the beginning of his “It Matters To Her" performance.

A representative for McCreery tells PEOPLE the singer has declined to comment on the incident.

“Right here, that’s a lady you just hit, sir,” McCreery said in the video, pointing to someone in the audience. “Absolutely not, you just hit the lady. Police? Security? Is she OK? Get the heck out of here.”

“On God’s green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?” he said shortly after he called out the alleged attacker. “Y’all let the cop know who hit the lady. That’s absolutely unacceptable.”

“We got ‘em? We good down there?” he asked security before concluding, “Whoever you are, that’s the definition of a coward, hitting a lady. Get the heck out of here.” He then checked in with the crowd before he resumed his set.

People in the front of the crowd pointed at a person who was eventually escorted out. The man and woman’s identities have not been publicly revealed, nor if the man was arrested.

“We can confirm that an incident took place at the Scotty McCreery concert where a man assaulted a woman and the performer stopped the show," Olga Robak, director of communications with The Colorado Department of Agriculture, tells PEOPLE.

Robak says that Colorado State Fair security assisted with crowd control. “This incident is still under investigation and we cannot comment further.”

A representative for the Colorado State Fair did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for more information on Tuesday.
