Shawn Johnson Recounts 'Scariest Incident' with Son Jett, 2, Where He Was 'Unable to Breathe' During Paris Trip

Shawn Johnson Eastis recounting a scary health incident involving her son.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the former Olympic gymnast, 32, was answering questions onher Instagram Storiesand revealed that her older son Jett James, 2, had recently woke up in the middle of the night with a “severe case of croup.”

“Behind the scenes the past week has been a rollercoaster,” Johnson East wrote over a picture of her sleeping son Barrett “Bear” Madison, whom she welcomed in December. “Jett got a severe case of croup and woke up in the middle of the night (5 nights ago) unable to breathe 😭.”

“It was our scariest incident yet filled with panicked mama calls in a foreign country. He’s now on the mend and thriving but then it hit little man,” the mom of three said of her son Bear.

“Grateful for Team USA house doctors and locals who have helped us find the care they needed.”

Johnson East shared a second photo on her Instagram Stories from a follower who asked, “What was the most stressful part of this trip?”

“Sick kids in a foreign country,” she wrote across a picture of herself and Bear.

Alongside Bear and Jett, Johnson East shares her daughter Drew Hazel, 4 with husband Andrew East.

Before heading to Paris for the 2024 games, Johnson East chatted with PEOPLE about her “full circle moment” ofreturning to the Olympics this yearwith her “tight-knit” family team.

While Johnson East couldn’t wait to travel to Paris, she said her little ones “have no clue” how cool this opportunity is.

“They have no clue. They are very excited about Disneyland in Paris, but couldn’t care less about the Olympics,” she admitted.
