She Knew He Had a Crush on Her. She Used that Knowledge to Lure Him to His Murder

A Texas woman who lured a high school classmate to his death when the two were teenagers has learned her fate, authorities said.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, a Harris County jury convicted Keona Samireal Mouton, 22, of murder for her role in the shooting death of 18-year-old Delindsey Mack on Nov. 13, 2018, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in apress release. She was subsequently sentenced to 23 years in prison.

Ogg said the murder took place near Lamar High School in Houston where Mouton and Mack were classmates.

Dave’on Thomas, whom Ogg identified as the getaway driver, was sentenced in 2023 to 50 years in prison in connection with the deadly shooting.

“Social media posts had described Mack as a gang member, which led to him being targeted, but he was actually known to be an outstanding football player,” the release states. “He had recently transferred from Yates High School to escape gang violence.”

Mack’s mother faced Mouton in court on Tuesday and gave an emotional statement after a seven-day trial.

“I hate you. You disgust me," Mack told Mouton, according to KHOU 11. “Don’t you dare cry. Those shackles on your ankles, that’s Delindsey Mack.”

Mack’s grandmother told the outlet that he was expected to graduate high school a month after he was killed.

“Delindsey Mack’s parents put him in the one place that children should be safe, but Keona Mouton pulled all the strings to make his murder happen,” Assistant District Attorney Sarah Seely said in the release.

Mouton was prosecuted as an adult and must serve at least half of her sentence before she will be eligible for parole, according to the release.
