Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens Won’t 'Force' Future Kids Into Sports: 'Whatever They Want' (Exclusive)

Simone Bilesand her husbandJonathan Owensare already looking forward to expanding their family.

The Chicago Bears safety, 29, opened up to PEOPLE in this week’s issue about the possibility of him and the Olympic gymnast, 27, having kids in the future. Owens tells PEOPLE that the couple, who tied the knot in April 2023, are “for sure” planning on raising kids together.

“In the future, man. For sure,” says Owens.

Asked if the athlete duo would want their future little ones to follow in their footsteps, the NFL player says they would never “force” their kids into any particular activity, including football and gymnastics.

“If that’s what they want to do, I’m not going to try to force anything on them,” Owens says. “Obviously they’re going to know what their parents did, so that’ll be just something cool for them to look at and for us to be able to relive those stories and memories with them.”

“And she’s big on taking pictures and we’ll have stuff framed up for them,” he adds of Biles.

Owens continues, “But honestly, whatever they want to do, I’ll just support them a hundred percent. I don’t want to force ‘em and make it feel like you have to do this because we did. That does generally work out for kids.”

As a guest onTodayon Tuesday, Aug. 6,Biles also sharedthat having children is something she and Owens see in their future.

“Obviously we both have goals that we want to achieve before we start a family. But yes, that’s definitely in our future,” she added.
