Suga Says He's 'Tarnished the Name of BTS' in Apology to Fans over Drunk Scooter Riding Incident: 'All My Fault'

Sugais sharing his regrets after getting fined and having his license suspended for riding an electric scooter while intoxicated earlier this month.

TheBTSmember, 31,posted to Weverseon Aug. 25 and issued a second apology to fans after the incident in the form of a lengthy handwritten note, expressing feelings that he’s “tarnished the name” of the “Dynamite” group.

“I would like to apologize to you again with an embarrassed heart. I deeply apologize for disappointing and hurting my fans and everyone who loves me with my wrongdoings,” wrote Suga on the South Korean social media platform. “I forgot my sense of responsibility to repay the love I have received with my actions and made a big mistake.”

He then reiterated some previously shared details, that he rode an electric scooter on a sidewalk “after drinking” on Aug. 6.

According to South Korea’sYonhap news agency, an officer found Suga lying on the ground after falling off his electric scooter in the Yongsan district in Seoul. The officer gave him a breathalyzer test, which revealed that his blood alcohol levels were above 0.08 percent, the legal limit, per the outlet.

“It is all my fault. My carelessness is making it difficult for everyone who cares about me. I will try not to make the wrongdoings again and live my life repenting,” continued his latest apology.

“Because of this incident, I have greatly tarnished the precious memories I have made with the members and fans and have tarnished the name of BTS,” added Suga.

“I am so sorry and in pain that it is difficult to express how I have caused harm to the members and the team. I am sorry that the members who always believed in me have had a hard time because of me,” continued the statement. “And I also know very well how disappointed the fans who supported and cheered me on must have felt.”

He later concluded the note, “I will gladly accept any punishment that is given in the future, as well as criticism and reprimands. Lastly, I once again bow my head and sincerely apologize for causing social controversy and disappointing many people.”

“We will take greater care to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future,” BigHit Entertainment added.

Currently, Suga is carrying out hismandatory military serviceafter postponing his enlistment due to his touring schedule. Unlike his fellow BTS members, however, Suga has been working as a social service agent, an alternative form of military service, perThe New York Times. His service is expected to be completed next June, per the outlet.
