Taylor Swift Wins Artist of the Year at the 2024 MTV VMAs

It’s official:Taylor Swiftis the artist of the year!

While the awards show took place at New York’s UBS Arena, Swift’s latest victory was announced during a commercial break. She also led this year in nominations with a total of 12 mostly for “Fortnight,” herTortured Poets Departmentsingle featuringPost Malone. The hit song’s accompanying video starredDead Poets Society’s Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles.

So far, Swift has taken home the trophies for best collaboration, best pop, song of the summer, best direction and best editing — all thanks to her milestone year and the black-and-white “Fortnight” video.

Malone, 29, and Swift accepted the best collaboration award together at the top of the show, when Swift thanked the 10-time Grammy nominee for his contributions to the duet and used the “opportunity to thank and honor the people who worked so hard with me on this video.”

“There is a very clear reason why Post Malone is everyone in music’s favorite person to collaborate with,” Swift said. “It is because you are so ridiculously talented. You are so versatile, and you’re the most down-to-earth person.”

Malone, who was at “an absolute loss for words,” raved about his collaborator and “the amount of work and care and love that she puts into everything she does” during their time on stage together.

Swift has also been anactive participantin the crowd at the UBS Arena throughout the night, dancing along to performances from the likes ofKarol GandKaty Perry. At one point, she could be seen singing along to “Teenage Dream” beside palSuki Waterhouse, before jamming out to “E.T.” and “California Gurls.”
