Aphex Twin has played sets around the world — but he recently stepped into a new, unlikely role as a wedding DJ.
The iconic electronic music producer — whose real name is Richard David James — was spotted spinning tracks at someone’s nuptials over the weekend, according to social media posts shared on Saturday, Aug. 17.
“Went to a friend’s wedding reception last night and they had APHEX TWIN DJing!” one partygoerwrote on X(formerly Twitter) alongside a photo of the British trailblazer.

Another attendee sharedfootage from Aphex Twin’s set on TikTok. The 29-second clip shows the Grammy winner’s setup at the event, which included colorful lighting and a visual accompaniment playing on a screen behind him.

In the video’s description, the creator wrote, “A few months ago I was invited to a friends wedding — I was told there was going to be some very special guests as [DJs]!”
Aphex Twin performed atseveral international music festivals last year, and he released a four-track EP in July 2023. The first single, “Blackbox Life Recorder 21f,” wasnominated for a Grammy in 2024, marking the artist’s second nod from the awards ceremony.
