Terrence Howardis the latest star to fully commit to method dressing.

Howard hit the carpet in a retro gray suit, a collared shirt with the top buttons left undone and tan suede boots.

The star of the outfit, however, was his hair.

Howard’s hairstyle, which was really just an auburn-dyed wig blown out to epicFarah Fawcettproportions, stole the spotlight as it really brought Howard’s onscreen persona to life. Full of bounce and volume, it also completely transformed the Oscar-nominee, who usually rocks a trimmed cut.

At the Sept. 4 premiere, PEOPLE got a closer look at the impressive hairpiece, which can be seen in detail — curtain bangs and all — in a video shared onInstagram.

Naturally, the Internet had some thoughts on Howard’s makeover. “What in the Farrah Fawcett flip is going on here???” one user commented while another added, “What is Terrance wearing on his head?” another wrote.

While Howard’s hairdo was definitely the talk of the night, so was hisEmpirereunionwithTaraji P. Henson, who also stars inFight Nightas Vivian Thomas. The two posed on the red carpet together as they entered their new era four years after the Fox series ended in 2020.

Henson also got into character with her own disco glam look that consisted of a daring minidress with an ultra-low neckline and statement shoulder pads.
