As someone with flat feet and a handful of other foot conditions, I need the most comfortable shoes for daily wear, exercise, and events.

Whether wearing sneakers, athletic tennis shoes, slides, heels, or evenflats for work, I’m constantly vetting so-called “comfortable” shoes to see if they actually deliver on that claim. As a New Yorker who commutes to work on public transportation, walks miles with my dog, and travels often, shoe discomfort quickly becomes obvious via angry blisters and shooting pain on the sides and balls of my feet.

The straps have adjustability for wider feet, and the rubber sole provides ample cushioning for comfort. Despite them being slides, you shouldn’t worry about sliding in them: The materials offer solid grip and traction.

Merrell is another popular brand known for supportive and comfortable footwear, and our tester compared the Hut Ultra Flip-Flop’s comfort and style to her Birkenstocks.
