With13 movies in the vault, the films of theHalloweenfranchiseare some of the most recognizable the spooky season has to offer.

OnHalloweenin 2024, Curtis — who appeared in seven films in the series — celebrated the 46th anniversary ofHalloween(1978) as the “first final girl.”

As the franchise star, Jamie Lee Curtis once again reprised the role of Laurie Strode.

Although the actress hasbeen involved in theHalloweenseriessince the first film debuted in 1978, she shelved the role for some time and only came back afterher godson,Jake Gyllenhaal, nudged her to do so in 2017.

“I was sitting in the exact place I am sitting right now when my phone rang, and it was Jake Gyllenhaal,” shetoldSFXmagazinein 2022. “I picked up the phone, and he said, ‘Hey Jame, my friend David Gordon Green’ — who he had just worked with on the movieStronger— ‘would like to talk to you about aHalloweenmovie.’ That was in 2017, in the summer. The last thing I thought five years ago [is] that I would be doing would be aHalloweenmovie.”

Needless to say, Gyllenhaal’s phone call worked: Curtis reprised Laurie inHalloween Returns(2018),Halloween KillsandHalloween Ends(2022), the presumable closing chapter of the long-lasting movie franchise.

Still, her reach is not just limited to the slasher series. In 2023, the veteran actresssnagged her career-first Oscar for Best Supporting Actressfor her performance inEverything Everywhere All at Once(2022). Curtis also took home her firstEmmyfor outstanding guest actress in a comedy series in 2024 for her role onThe Bearas Donna Berzatto.

Since then, Curtis has portrayed Dr. Tannis in Eli Roth’s film adaptation of the popular video game seriesBorderlands(2024) and delivered whatVarietychief film critic Peter DeBrugehailed a “force-of-nature supporting turn”in thePamela Anderson-starring dramaThe Last Showgirl(2024).
