Based on Suzanne Collins' 2008 young adult dystopian novel of the same name, the movie not only gave rave reviews from critics and fans alike but itcatapulted the careers of its young starslikeJennifer Lawrence,Josh HutchersonandLiam Hemsworth.

Though the original franchise ultimately came to an end nearly a decade ago, the story continues with the prequel films,The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes(2023) andSunrise on the Reaping(set to hit theaters in 2026).

Sam Claflinstole fans' hearts when playing District 4 tribute Finnick Odair inCatching Fire, a role he reprised in the following two sequels.
