A life-size version ofBuddy the Elfis available for $199 at Home Depot — but fans of the Christmas classic are divided about their feelings toward the decoration.
Earlier this week, anInstagram videoof the figure, which is dressed up like Will Ferrell’s iconic character inElf, went viral. The life-size Buddy wears curled-up black shoes, yellow tights, a green shirt and a green hat. A rep for Home Depot confirmed the decoration is new for this year.
“Hey, what’s your name? My name’s Buddy,” the elf says in the viral video as the Instagram user moved towards it. The mouth and figure moved as it spoke, which many found a little unsettling.

“Will Ferrel ❌ Went Feral ✅,” one Instagram user commented. “It’s like a horrible amalgamation of Will Ferrel and Paul Giamatti,” another remarked.
“Currently losing my mind bc that is not Buddy,” another Instagram user wrote. Another suggested the figure was not for Christmas, but a “Halloween decoration.”
“I’d buy him and put him in a haunted house,” one person commented.

It has earned a handful of customer reviews on the product’s page on Home Depot’s website, including one from a person who thought the “face is kind of scary,” but it was “definitely worth the buy” because it has the “best phrases.” Another customer warned people to see the figure in a store because “the face looks nothing like it does online.”
One consumer gave it a five-star perfect rating.
“The outfit, shoes, tights, and hair look really good. Can’t wait to put him out on our porch for the holidays! Was able to put him together in about 15 minutes,” the person wrote.
