While showing off her Spanish Colonial Revival-style retreat, Metz expressed her gratitude for owning a place that is so different from her childhood home.“I grew up in a house so very small that it didn’t even fit a dining table,” she tells the outlet. “I can’t even believe I have a glam room. I used to share a bathroom with five people. What in the world is my life?”Along with her glam room and music room, Metz says her writing room is one of her favorites because it comes with a special backstory.“I had a shaman come and sort of energetically clear the house, and she was telling me that the back room is a creative space, so we made it the writing room,” she says.Chrissy Metz’s L.A. home.Sam Frost / Architectural DigestWhile creating a space that reflected her personal design style was a must for her, Metz notes how it was more important for the house to feel welcoming.“To have a home that I can invite people to and entertain is so important to me. I want to entertain because I’m the happiest around my friends and obviously my family,” she says.Chrissy Metz’s L.A. home.Sam Frost / Architectural DigestMetz reveals she jumped at the chance to own the property just four hours after the listing went live because she was drawn to how every detail in the home felt “very intentional and very beautiful.”“I remember going into the primary bathroom, and they had these really beautiful ornate wood screens. I was like, ‘Yep, I want to live here,’" she adds of her first impression of the space. She also loved that it was located in a gated community, especially after experiencing a break-in at her previous home.Chrissy Metz’s L.A. home.Sam Frost / Architectural DigestBringing her vision of the space to life did come with some challenges, as the Emmy-nominated actress says she’s known to be a bit indecisive.“I didn’t know how particular I was until we were going through it,” she explains of the design process. “I must have sat on, I don’t know, 20 different dining room chairs. The chairs have to be comfortable, but your feet have to touch the ground, but the back has to be…I’m like, ‘Chrissy, just pick a chair.’”Despite being particular about certain details, Metz knew she wanted the home to “feel warm and cozy and also lived in….
