Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Have Date Night at Off-Broadway Opening of Adam Driver's New Play

On Wednesday, Oct. 16, Hanks, 68, and Wilson, 67, posed together at the premiere ofAdam Driver’s new off-Broadway productionHold on to Me Darling, in which Driver, 40, stars as a country music star who moves back to his hometown following his mother’s death.

Hanks and Wilson, whocelebrated their 36th wedding anniversaryback in April, were arm-in-arm as they posed for pictures together outside the Lucille Lortel Theatre in Manhattan’s West Village neighborhood, where Driver’s play is running through Dec. 22.

Hanks and Wilsonfirst metin 1981, but their romance began in earnest when they costarred in the 1985 movieVolunteers, in which they played romantic interests. They made their red carpet debut as a couple in 1986 and married in 1988. The pair share sonsChet Hanks, 34, andTruman Hanks, 28, in addition to Hanks' kids from his first marriage:Colin Hanks, 46, andElizabeth Hanks, 42.

Wilson, who will turn 68 on Oct. 26, shared a lengthy tribute to Hanks onInstagramas they celebrated theMan Called Ottostar’s birthday back on July 9.

“🌸🎂🎊 Happy Birthday to my love! 🎊🎂🌸 You made the world a better place the day you were born,” she wrote in a caption at the time. “You bring joy wherever you go. You are the bringer of laughs, a lover of vehicles, or pretty much anything, shaped like a round bath tub.”

Hanks most recently appeared on the big screen in 2023’sAsteroid Cityand 2024’sFreaky Tales.He will next star in the movieHere, which reunites him with hisForrest GumpcostarRobin Wright, in theaters Nov. 1. Wilson, a singer and songwriter in addition to actress and producer, recently released a new single titled “Look How Far We’ve Come.”
