Tyra Banks and Her Iconic Smize Make Epic Return to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show After Retiring in 2005

TheVictoria’s Secret Fashion Showis back — and so isTyra Banks!

The 50-year-old modeling icon — who walked in nine shows during her tenure with the brand before retiring from modeling in 2005 — made her grand return to the catwalk on Oct. 15 to the roar of the crowd as “Native New Yorker” played.

Banks meant business as she strutted down the catwalk in a silver cape with black lining, a crystal-crusted bustier, sparkly leggings and heels.

Before hitting the runway in New York City — where the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show originated — Banks also helped tease the show’s return with another one of Victoria’s Secret’s most famous faces,Gigi Hadid.

The sketch — which saw Hadid getting starstruck at Banks before accepting an invitation from her — comes months after Victoria’s Secret first announced the return of its annual fashion show.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE at the time, a rep for Victoria’s Secret echoed this promise of the show reflecting who the brand is today.

“The 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will deliver precisely what our customers have been asking for — the glamour, runway, fashion, fun, wings, entertainment — all through a powerful, modern lens reflecting who we are today,” the statement read. “We’re thrilled to share a women-led articulation of this iconic property later this year!”

In September, Banks once again appeared on Victoria’s Secret’s social media, admitting that returning to the show “feels crazy.”

“It feels crazy being back on the Victoria’s Secret runway," she said in ajoint postwith the brand. “I mean ‘cray cray,’ as in ‘cray cray good.' I never thought that I would be back on this runway, to be honest.”

The formerANTMhost also toldHarper’s BAZAARthat “it’s a little bit of an out-of-body experience” walking in the show nearly two decades after hanging up her wings in 2005 — and revealed she has been “walking around in heels” to practice!

“I walked off that runway and I [had] this big retirement and it was such a spectacle,” she told the outlet. “I felt like that athlete that’s like, ‘I’m hanging up my cleats … I’m retiring the basketball.’ And then, now I’m back!”

“I never in a million years thought that I would be back on the runway, but I am so beyond excited and so ready for this,” added Banks.
