Tyra Banks Says Walking in the 2024 Victoria's Secret Show Wasn't 'All About Me': 'I Was a Vessel'

In a segment set to air on Wednesday, Oct. 23, the supermodel, 50, appears onThe Drew Barrymore Showto discuss the iconic moment.

“When I saw you, I just thought, I know you know how to work it,” hostDrew Barrymoretold Banks of seeing her on the runway during the Tuesday, Oct. 15 show. “But I felt, coming from you, like, this true joy, true feeling it, true feeling good about yourself, true living in the moment and really present. Is any of that apt or correct?”

“Yes, you are just hitting every single cylinder right now,” the model replied.

She continued, saying that in the past, she “would walk for myself.”

“But when I was walking on the Victoria’s Secret runway this time, I felt like everybody was inside of me,” Banks explained. “50-year-old women, insecure women — I just felt like there was more, and I look at the playback and I’m like, boom, boom, boom. I was stomping because I felt like I was a vessel more so than it’s just all about me. It was different.”

The formerAmerica’s Next Top Modelhost also noted that her physique has changed since her modeling days.

“Also what was different is my boobies were like 10 times bigger because I was about 40-50 pounds heavier on this runway than when I retired,” she says. “So I was like, ‘Don’t fall out, don’t fall out.’ "

Banks, who walked in nine shows during her tenure as a VS Angel before retiring from modeling in 2005, made her grand return to the catwalk at the 2024 VS Fashion Show. She donned a silver cape with black lining, a crystal-crusted bustier, sparkly leggings and heels.

Ahead of the New York City event, Banks helped tease the show’s return along with fellow VS model,Gigi Hadid. In a video shared onInstagramin August, Hadid struts down a hallway before arriving at a desk where Banks hands her an invitation in a gold envelope.

Victoria’s Secret announced the show’s return in May.

“It feels crazy being back on the Victoria’s Secret runway,” Banks said in ajoint postwith the brand in September. “I mean ‘cray cray,’ as in ‘cray cray good.' I never thought that I would be back on this runway, to be honest.”
