On Oct. 30, 2003, the original Broadway cast ofWickedtook center stage and changed theater and how we view the Wicked Witch of the West forever.

Over 21 years later, a new chapter begins asthe film adaptationstarringCynthia ErivoandAriana Grandereleases in theaters on Nov. 22.

Interestingly enough, the dates that began the play’s course and the movie’s launch have karmic connections seen through astrology. The premiere date ofthe Broadway productionhad a stellium in Libra (creative Venus, action-oriented Mars and expansive Jupiter) that ensured its success. Currently, the South Node is in Libra, making the film a runaway hit on the heels of the show.

One of Glinda’s closest pals at Shiz University is Pfanee, who isn’t as lovely as one would think. Rather than accept Elphaba, Pfannee questions everything about her and throws shade her way. Pfannee’s trickster persona aligns with Gemini as the Air sign often uses its dualistic demeanor to play hijinks on others while appearing to be the opposite of how they treat people.

Cancer: Miss Coddle

The character of Miss Coddle is new to theWickedscene and makes her very first appearance in the film (she’s not in the book or play). Her name, Miss Coddle, immediately explains her vibe. Clearly, she’s a nice person who pampers her students — or at least tries to win their hearts with compassion. In the same tune as the Water sign Cancer, Miss Coddle is a sympathizer and nurturer.

Leo: The Wizard

Real talk: Leos like to be in top positions of authority because they’re addicted to the cachet of fame. If they are dethroned, Leos will resort to unruly behavior to maintain control over the masses and to not spoil their reputation for being the best. The Wizard is so caught up in being a celebrity that he isn’t thinking about what the people need. His pride is preventing him from stepping down and letting someone new lead.

Virgo: Fiyero

Fiyero is intelligent, fun, witty and handsome — qualities that can easily describe the Earth sign Virgo. He’s not quite Prince Charming, but he is pretty close. Virgo is a mindful sign that learns from the past and uses their mistakes as momentum to grow. The same could be said about Fiyero, who initially adheres to his peers, then does what he desires and wants most.

Libra: Glinda

Glinda closely aligns with the zodiac sign Libra. Airy Libras will do anything to get the attention and affection of the person they are in love with. Glinda is methodical and uses her popularity to attain her goals at Shiz University. Ultimately, she seeks justice for all, in true Libra form — but getting there takes time.

Scorpio: Madame Morrible

When Madame Morrible notices Elphaba’s magical talent upon entering Shiz University, she secretly works with The Wizard to entice the protege to work with him in Oz under duplicitous means. She aligns with the Water sign because Scorpios attain success behind the throne, are secretive and use manipulative tactics to get what they want. Also, Madame Morrible’s intensity is at the level of Scorpio’s passionate demeanor.

Sagittarius: Avaric

As the well-to-do, arrogant and honorable acquaintance Elphaba meets at school, Avaric looks down on those he thinks are beneath his status. Although he can be pretentious, he has a sense of right and wrong. At times, Sagitarians can be judgemental and critical of others. In a similar spirit to Avaric, the archer is virtuous and helps others.

Capricorn: Doctor Dillamond

Doctor Dillamond is a talking goat who is the GOAT! His love of history and facts allows him to be a practical teacher and an authoritarian figure in Elphaba’s life when she’s enrolled at Shiz University. The Earth sign is excellent at listening and pushing others to follow their path since they are reflective, reasonable, reliable and genuine. In proper Capricorn form, Doctor Dillamond helps Elphaba see her innate potential and encourages her to embrace her incomparable self.

Aquarius: Elphaba

Elphaba is the heroine ofWicked. She has tremendous power and wants to use it ethically. Like the fanatical Air sign Aquarius, Elphaba aims to expose the truth about Oz and help society evolve. Rebellious Aquarius signs are known to protest against the status quo due to their strong beliefs and humanitarian goals. The water-bearer is an outsider, making it more relatable to Elphaba, whose green skin makes it difficult for her to fit in, forging a unique path and identity.
