Despite seeing huge success with the cable show, one of the most important things to Steve is being a present father alongside the real estate agent.

He met Mina on social media

“He ignored me all night,” Mina toldCountry Living. “He let his friend hit on me!”

Still, after securing his phone number, the house flipper gave him a second chance and texted him, “We’re going to try this again tomorrow — you get one more shot.”

He proposed to Mina in 2015

After dating for nearly two years, Steve planned an elaborate scavenger hunt for Mina before popping the question on the 50-yard line of the Indianapolis Colts training field on March 8, 2015.

The Two Chicks and a Hammer co-founder shared the news with a photo of her engagement ring. “BOOM!!!!! 😍 thanks, boo!!!” she wrote onInstagram.

He and Mina got married in 2016

Mina and Steve tied the knot on June 11, 2016. The pair held the ceremony and reception at the historic 1899 building in Indianapolis, where she wore a mermaid-style dresswhile Steve donned a black tuxedo.

The bride posted a video shortly after saying, “I do,” showing highlights from their wedding reception, which featured guests hoisting her up mid-dance with her groom smiling in the background.

“The wedding went pretty well,” she captioned the clip onInstagram.

They have two children

Mina and Steve welcomed their first child, a son named Jack Richard Hawk, on Aug. 9, 2018.

“She’s here! And she’s perfect! We are justobsessed with our little familyand can’t wait for Jack to be the best big brother to sweet Charlie,” the couple told PEOPLE at the time.

They were open about experiencing infertility

A year after giving birth to Jack, Mina revealed it was taking time for her to get pregnant again. Speaking with PEOPLE in 2020, the renovator shared that after three months of being unable to conceive, she and Steve decided to begin first-line fertility treatments and medications.

In the process, the pair were told that Mina had less than a 1 percent chance of getting pregnant and tried in vitro fertilization (IVF), but unfortunately, it failed. At the start of 2020, the pair sought a second opinion and were suggested to try intrauterine insemination (IUI) instead.

“We wanted to try one more time,” she said. “And then I think we both would have been okay and settled with being done, but the one more time worked.”

Shortly after, Mina and Steve found out the treatment was successful when she took a test, and it was positive.

“When Itold [Steve] I was pregnant with Jack, he just started crying. When I told him I was pregnant this time, it was shock,” she said of the moment.

Mina added, “There were so many happy tears.We are incredibly lucky.”

He gave up alcohol in 2021

During an August 2023 episode of Mina’s podcast,Mina AF, the husband-and-wife-duo candidly described their relationship with alcohol and what led them to stop drinking.

Steve shared that his parents struggled with alcoholism throughout their lives. The couple also revealed thatSteve’s sister, Stefanie Hawk, diedfrom ethanol poisoning in 2020. (Two years prior, his mother died from stomach cancer, and his father died six months later after falling down the stairs.)

“I realized that I don’t want to give my childrena reason to not have a relationship with me,” he said.

Mina’s husband added, “I’m never going to allow my children to have a negative relationship with me on things that I can control, and I can control my alcohol intake.”

He owns his own fitness company

Steve is a certified fitness and nutrition expert who founded his own company in 2021 calledHawkFit.

“It is my goal and passion to help others find, grow and strengthen their best selves through dedication and commitment to themselves and their own personal motivators,” he wrote on his company’s website.

Steve offers online fitness programs that include workouts with accompanying videos and nutrition guides. He can also create a customized workout program for specific goals, according tohis Instagram. HawkFit also has an app clients can use to contact him with questions throughout their fitness journey.

One of his most recognized clients is his wife, who has publicly praised him.

“Just gotta give my trainer a shout out today! He’s a pain in my a– but wildly handsome so I put up with it. Thanks @hawk_fit_ for keeping my hot mom summer going,” she captioned apoolside photoof her and their daughter.

He and Mina will share their lake house renovation on theGood Bonesspinoff series

“He’s going through life the best way he can after just some really, really epic loss in a very, very short amount of time,” she says in the clip. “And because his time with his family was cut short, that’s really why we wanted this lake house for Jack and Charlie — really, for the long term, for the memories, for the experiences. So that’s, I think, why it’s really important to both of us.”
