Jennie Kim of Blackpinkhas opened up about whyshe apologized for vaping indoors.

In a cover story interview withHarper’s BAZAARon Wednesday, Sept. 18, the K-pop star, 28, reflected on the July incident in Italy, in which she was using a vape while getting her hair and makeup done in a vlog shared toher YouTubechannel.

“What can I do? If Korean people think it’s wrong, I’ve got to make up for it,” she told the publication.

Jennie also said she understood from her fans' point of view why she needed to say something.

“It’s like, I get why you guys are upset. It’s cultural, it’s history. It’s time. And I can’t go against time,” she added.

It continued: “Jennie acknowledges and deeply regrets her mistake of vaping indoors and causing inconvenience to the staff. Jennie has personally apologized to all the staff on-site who may have been affected.”

“We apologize to her fans who have been disappointed through this incident. We hope to prevent this from reoccurring in the future. Thank you,” the statement concluded.

The remainder of the clip showed her getting ready to make herrunway debut at fashion designer Jacquemus' showin Italy at the time.

Elsewhere in the interview withHarper’s BAZAAR, Jennie opened up about her forthcoming solo album, which follows her 2018 debut as a solo artist with the aptly-titled single “Solo” and “You & Me” and “One of the Girls” withThe WeekndandLily-Rose DeppfromThe Idol, in which the Blackpink member costarred in 2023.

With her record, she said she will bring “myself to the world for the first time.”

“I don’t want to lose their trust,” the “Solo” singer said of her fans. “It is so important for me to have my culture, and everyone around the world, love me.”

Of her forthcoming LP, Jennie added: “Blackpink Jennie will always be a part of me, but you will also get to experience this new side.”
