In the season 7 premiere episode titled “Abandoned,” fans learned that Tiffany had handed in her resignation and explained that the Hakim case had taken a huge toll on her mental health.

When her FBI partner Stuart Scola (John Boyd) insisted she needed to take some “time off” but her departure didn’t have to be “permanent,” Tiffany replied, “Scola. Have you ever talked me out of anything? Ever? Once? Ever?”

“Sorry, but there’s nothing more dangerous than having a partner who didn’t want to be in the field anymore, but stuck around anyway,” she explained.

The episode concluded with Special Agent Maggie Bell suggesting she and Tiffany get drinks. When Tiffany revealed that she was moving to Georgia for her sister, Maggie asked why she was deciding to leave the FBI.

“It wasn’t any one thing," she said. “I just wanted closure. I thought I’d get that after Hakim was gone; I didn’t.”
