After a four year delay,Princess Theodora of Greeceis set to, at last, marry her fiance Matthew Kumar in a royal wedding that’s just days away.
The couplegot engaged in November 2018and have pushed their planned 2020 wedding back twice — the first time for the COVID-19 pandemic, and the second time after the death of Theodora’s father,King Constantine II, who died in January 2023 at age 82. Constantine, a first cousin of Britain’s latePrince Philipand godfather toPrince William, was Greece’s last kingbefore its monarchy was abolished in 1973, though his descendants, including Theodora, 41, still represent the country as princes and princesses.

The two will marry at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens on Saturday, Sept. 28, and it’s unknown which, if any, members of the British royal family will attend the latest European royal wedding. European royal families tend to be close (and, oftentimes, somehow related); when Constantine died,Princess Anneattended his funeral in Athens, and a thanksgiving service for him was held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor this past Feb, 27 with a strong contingent of British royals in attendance.Queen Camilla,Prince Andrew,Sarah Ferguson,Princess Beatrice, her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Anne,Zara TindallandMike Tindallwere all there, and Prince William was also expected to be in attendance and even give a reading at it, butpulled out of the service at the last minute— sparking a frenzy about wifeKate Middleton’s health. (She announced less than one month later that she had beendiagnosed with cancer.)

According toHello!,King Charlesand Queen Camilla are likely to miss Princess Theodora’s wedding, as they’ll be in Scotland visiting Parliament as it marks its 25th anniversary. It’s also unlikely that the Prince and Princess of Wales will make the trip to Greece as Kate continues to keep a low public profile after announcing she hadcompleted chemotherapy on Sept. 9. It’s always possible that members of the more extended British royal family could attend, like Princess Beatrice andPrincess Eugeniedid for Theodora’s brother Prince Philippos’ 2021 wedding.
TheDaily Mailpredicts that Princess Theodora will ask her oldest brother, Crown Prince Pavlos, to walk her down the aisle and perform the role of “giving away” his younger sister. (Theodora is the fourth of King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie’s five children.)

Though it’s unknown which, if any, members of the British royal family will make the trip to Greece for the wedding, there will be royalty present. Queen Sofia of Spain, Theodora’s paternal aunt, is expected to be in attendance, according toHello!. The bride’s mother, Queen Anne-Marie, is the younger sister of Denmark’sQueen Margrethe, so members of the Danish royal family could be in attendance, as well.
