Woman 'Furious' at Brother's Fiancée for Wearing Her Mom's Vintage Wedding Dress

A bride’s soon-to-be sister-in-law is “furious” after finding out she plans to wear her mother’s wedding dress.

In a post onReddit’s popular “Am I the A——?” forum, a woman, 26, getting married in three months is contemplating whether or not she is in the wrong for agreeing to wear her future mother-in-law’s wedding dress.

Originally, she planned to wear her stepmom’s gown, but the bride-to-be unexpectedly got pregnant during wedding planning and the dress no longer fits.

Luckily for the bride, her future mother-in-law offered an alternative bonding moment — that she wear her wedding dress. It would fit her because she was also pregnant when she got married.

“I was venting about it to my MIL, and I broke down crying. She then said she’d be honored if I wore her wedding dress,” the woman wrote. “She showed it to me, and it’s a stunning vintage dress from the ’70s with a boho/hippie vibe, gorgeous embroidery, and funnily enough, she was pregnant when she wore it too. She made me feel so loved and welcome, so I accepted.”

But the bride’s future sister-in-law couldn’t be more upset, going as far as to “harass” her via message, social media and in person.

“She actually came over to my house trying to take the dress back, and even said I was ‘living in sin’ for getting pregnant before marriage,” she wrote. “My fiancé just kicked her out and told me not to worry since she’s always thought the dress was ugly and never wanted it.”

Even though her fiancé and future mother-in-law take her side and “don’t care” what the sister-in-law thinks, the bride feels like a “jerk” when she imagines herself in the other shoe.

Redditors overall have determined that the poster is “Not the A——.”

Another person commented: “Kind of ironic that her own mother wore it while pregnant but she’s bashing you for doing the same. NTA and block SIL - MIL is the only one that matters here.”
