Woman Screams After Seeing Her Friends and Family at Surprise Proposal: 'It Quite Honestly Scared Me' (Exclusive)

In a horror-movie-worthy moment, one woman screamed at the top of her lungs after she turned around during her proposal and saw all of her friends and family.

“To be completely honest, the moment I turned the corner and saw Malik, I had no idea what to do. There was a part of me that was already suspicious that I was going to get proposed to, but then I gaslit myself into thinking that there was no way,” Moore tells PEOPLE. “So when I finally saw my now-fiancé, I went to immediate shock.”

She continues, “In the best way possible, the whole proposal was a blur! I remember sobbing, and laughing, then sobbing again. I was already in so much shock that when I turned around and saw my family and friends… it quite honestly scared me! It was so funny because I wasn’t supposed to turn around and see them yet.”

“All I was thinking in that moment was, ‘Whose house is this?’ And I turned around and saw my family and friends who have flown in all across the country, along with his close friends and family as well!” Moore says. “So much shock was taking place! What the video also didn’t get after, was my fiancé also flew in my best friend all the way from New York who I rarely see. She never flew on a plane until now!”

Moore was told she was attending a surprise birthday party for a friend that day. Of course, guests had to wear white while the birthday girl wore color. Although Moore says she had been anticipating a proposal for a while and stayed “on guard” every day, she fully fell for Brookins' fake party plan.

“When I was getting ready with my friends, who were also attending, they also wore white but then later changed into different colored dresses once the proposal took place,” Moore explains. “Malik lives all the way in Florida so he couldn’t be the one to tell me to wear a white dress or else I’d be suspicious!”

At sunset, Brookins walked Moore outside to a beautiful spot overlooking the mountains and ocean as Abbie Gamboa’s “Pure” played. The song is significant to the couple as it signifies how “pure” their relationship is. Moore is a licensed minister while Malik is a pastor serving under his parents' church.

“When I saw Malik get on one knee, I couldn’t believe it was actually happening!” Moore tells PEOPLE, adding that he proposed with a three-carat, emerald-cut diamond ring with a gold band. “All I could do was cry and fall to the ground. The amount of gratitude I experienced in that moment was overwhelmingly amazing.”

The couple prayed together multiple times during their proposal. Brookins then played Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole’s “Unforgettable,” a song he played on the car ride home from their first date.

“Truly the whole day was a dream and beyond anything I could ever ask for,” says Moore, who then celebrated and danced with her friends and family.

Brookins and Moore met almost four years ago at Passion, a Christian conference, in Atlanta. Even though they wouldn’t date until November 2023, Moore knew he was the one. “I immediately saw him and thought he was the most beautiful man I have ever seen,” she recalls.
